Seed Inspiration: Divine Seeds

Pantheons and deities are an amazing in-game inspiration for fantasy TTRPG seeds. Many of my best games are inspired by these divine seeds.

Pantheons for fantasy games come from many places, including sourcebooks like the Shadowdark Core Rules, Cursed Scrolls, or 5e’s Heroes of Faerun. You can also create your own pantheon using domains. Mike Shea at SlyFlourish has a great list of major and minor domains that can be used to create a pantheon of deities.

When it comes to divine seeds, the specific pantheon does not really matter. You can pick and choose across domains. I do have a pantheon I use for my own games. These will not work for everyone. Some of you might wonder why I have different deities controlling the domains of knowledge, logic, science, and truth. It is just something I did that works for me. No reason not to combine several of those in your own pantheon. I will eventually add some divine seeds by other domains including those covered by Shadowdark and 5e core rule pantheons. For now, I’m sticking with my own. They are easily adaptable to most pantheons that utilize broad domains.
